Super Mario Galaxy

An out-of-this-world adventure

Bowser has launched an assault of astronomical proportions! Thrown into space and equipped with the power of Princess Rosalina’s Lumas, Mario will traverse from planet to planet to save the galaxies.

Defy gravity as you explore space in the Super Mario Galaxy game, originally released in 2007! Help Rosalina restore her ship by collecting Power Stars and save Princess Peach. Gently shake a Joy-Con controller to activate Mario’s Spin ability or pass a Joy-Con controller to a friend for some extra help in 2-player Co-Star Mode.

Super Mario Galaxy upgrades include:

  • Use Joy-Con controllers to mimic the original Wii Remote™ motion controls

  • Improved resolution

  • Browsable soundtrack

A galaxy of power-ups

Super Mario Galaxy features a wide variety of power-ups to help our hero. These special powers only last for a limited amount of time, though, so use them carefully!

  • Bee Mushroom

Transform into Bee Mario to stick to honeycomb walls and hover for a short time.

  • Fire Flower

Change into the classic Fire Mario and hurl fireballs.

  • Ice Flower

Freeze water and glide across lakes as Ice Mario.

  • Boo Mushroom

Float around as not-so-scary Boo Mario, passing through walls and other barriers—at least until he runs into light or water!

  • Spring Mushroom

Increase Mario’s already impressive jumping abilities and spring high into the air.

  • Rainbow Star

For a short time, Mario pulses with all the colors of the rainbow and runs at superspeed, knocking down any enemies in his path.

  • Red Star

Only available in the Comet Observatory’s Gateway Galaxy, this power-up lets Mario temporarily fly around the planet.
